Knowledge

We recommend that the ditch company should not allow the design plans to allow for any such un-retained stormwater flows directed to the existing ditch easement. The proposed stormwater flows will create long term erosion issues and minimize accessibility to maintain the pipe. A simple drainage swale along the eastern boundary, west of our easement, could be implemented to capture and retain the generated storm water, collected, then conveyed to a stormwater detention basin, where it can be treated and discharged. Typically, this would be done as part of the initial phases of the site development, not after construction has begun. In fact, the original design plans provided in the drainage report done by Flint Engineering has this feature included in their plans.
